Born from the heart of North Philadelphia's Diamond Street Projects, our brand is a testament to the power of having our own design (HOOD) and the strength found in the stories of those who come from the most challenging environments.

Our Genesis

For the past 10 years, HOOD founder and CEO, Terrance Smith, has funded an annual week-long basketball camp for up to 75 children and teens at the Hank Gathers Center, located in North Philadelphia, entirely free of cost to them or their families. For one week, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., these youth are given a safe space in which to participate in an activity they enjoy, with supervision by caring adult mentors. While at camp, participants receive top-tier instruction in basketball, tackle skill-building activities in teams, and are provided two full meals and snacks each day, HOOD branded apparel - and at the end of the week, a day trip to Wildwood, NJ. This effort to ensure a safe and positive atmosphere for at-risk youth in one of Philadelphia’s most challenging neighborhoods is made possible by HOOD Authentic and its profits to date.
